Since its inception, it has worked diligently to improve the lives of single parent families in its community. SPARC is dedicated to supporting single parents in their efforts to raise happy, healthy, well adjusted and successful children. The Single Parent Resource Center, Inc. located in mid-town Manhattan, was started in 1975 as a small pilot program of the Community Service Society of New York. Now an independent, not-for-profit organization, SPRC is the only comprehensive agency devoted solely to providing programs for over 2,000 of New York City’s single parents and their families annually. Services are available to all single parents, including those who are living in transitional housing; struggling with substance abuse, or have been released from incarceration.
